J2ME Tutorial

Have you ever wanted to program a game, but did not know where to start? Or have you wanted to program a game for mobile phones, but found the introductions provided by SUN, Nokia and other more confusing than enlighting? Then you've come to the right place.

This course takes you through every single step required to program your own J2ME game (that is, a game for mobile phones).

The Result

Your game, if you complete this course, will end up looking like this:

Emulator Sprite

Do not let the simple graphics fool you. The purpose of this course is to teach the principles (which can be used in a wide range of games) and not to make a pretty, complex, game.

Requirements

If you fulfill these requirements, you're all set for completing this course:

  • A computer with Windows
  • An interest in learning something new
  • Some Java programming experience (or ability to understand code easily, if you're used to Visual Basic, C#, C or C++ you should be home free)
  • NO game programming experience required

The Process

This game programming course will take you through everything required to learn game programming in J2ME. The process will be like this:
